Meanwhile, Down Under....

As stakes season is wrapping up in North America, the racing season is just underway in the Southern Hemisphere and while all the attention in North America was on Captaintreacherous on Saturday, all eyes were on Smoken Up at Tabcorp Meanngle Park, who was competing in the Miracle Mile.nt to be for the New Zealand pacer Smoken Up who led the field to the top of the stretch.

Alas, it was not to be as Smoken Up was in the lead until the top of the stretch when he gave up the lead allowing Beautide who was racing third along the rail to get free and win, covering the 1609 meters (mile) in 1:50.2 (tenths).  This was the second horse representing Tasmania to win the Group 1 Grand Circuit event.

For those who enjoy bloodlines, Beautide is a 6yo gelding sired by Bettors Delight whose dam Gorse Bush was sired by the American-sired Ticket To Ride   Beautide is 7 for 7 this season with earnings of $565,625(AUS) and a winner of 35 out of 75 lifetime starts.

Seems so odd to see all the drivers actually sitting upright in the bikes.
