The Door is Shut?

As expected, Captaintreacherous' defeat this past weekend cost him in the Hambletonian/BreedersCrown Standardbred Poll as Bee A Magician now leads the Captain by 338-302 with the trotting filly garnering 27 first place votes vs 7 votes for the pacing colt (1 vote went to I Luv the Nightlife).

Can the Captain catch Bee A Magician?  I tend to doubt it.  While the Captain is racing in the American-National this weekend, not racing in the Matron elimination this week and the final next week, is not going to help his cause.  Don't get me wrong, if not for the defeat at Hoosier Park, this strategy may have paid off.  Unfortunately, cherry picking spots when trying to catch the leader typically doesn't cut it.  It's  going to take a stumble by Bee A Magician in the American-National at Balmoral Park or the Moni Maker at Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment for the door to open once again for Captaintreacherous.

Exam Time: Maven is going to take on the boys in her final start of the season in the American-National at Balmoral Park Saturday night in the 4yo & up trot.  Being there is no filly/mare American National for older trotters, her connections are using this race as a test.  Passing this test may mean a European campaign next year, a failure likely means an all North-American campaign.

White Bliss, the white yearling sold for $240,000 yesterday. Apparently, the horse being white was one of the main reasons for the purchase.  Here's hoping the new connection's purchase pays off, not only for them but a successful white horse provides racing with another story to promote/follow next year.

The Meadowlands has moved next Thursday's qualifiers to a 10AM start.   For those who were planning on attending simulcasting at the Meadowlands next week to get a sneak peak at the new Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment, you'll have to wait a week.  A failure of their emergency generator has delayed the opening of the building for one week.  Opening night remains November 23.

I'd like to know besides the color white ,what drove that price up there as it took 2 to tangle to achieve that $240000 number.
