Thursday Night Cal Expo Pick 4s

Courtesy of Cal Expo, here are their selections for the $10,000 guaranteed pool for their late Pick 4.  Following their selections, I will provide my selections for the early and late Pick 4s for Thursday night's card.

First Time Starter is the “single” pick in the Cal Expo 15% Takeout Late Pick 4 Pool carrying a Guaranteed Gross Pool of $10,000.

Lust makes his California debut in the final leg of the Late Pick 4 on Thursday night May 5. Nine maidens make their way to the gate in the 9th race. Lust is trained and driven by the very hot connections of Bob Johnson (.445) and Mooney Svendsen (.316).

Pisto’s Picks for the Late Pick 4 are:

Race 6- 2, 3, 6, 7

Race 7- 1,4,7

Race 8- 3, 5, 7, 8

Race 9- 5

$48 Ticket
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Race 6- 5, 7

Race 7- 1, 4

Race 8- 3, 8

Race 9- 5

$8 Ticket

Now here is my analysis for the two Pick 4s at Cal Expo.  The early Pick 4 does not have a guarnatee but a winner is a winner.
Cal Expo Early Pick 4 (Races 2-5); 15% Takeout
Race 2 - $2,500 Pace ; FM Claiming Handicap $4,000-$5,000 1 - Silver Bloom (5-2) - Has has been just missing.  With any luck can be the winner.
6 - Frankly Scarlett (9-2) - Encountered bad cover in first race back.  May improve with a better trip.
2 - Intrepid Kate (12-1) - Canadian shipper had first start over the track.  More aggressive drive gets this mare in to the game.  Consider if looking for a big hit.

Race 3 - $2,300 Pace; Claiming $4,000
2 - Cash Allowance (9-5) - Drops back into winning class but note stable change.
5 - Red Sarr wild One (5-2) - Always there at the wire; no reason to expect different.

Race 4 - $2,000 Trot; Claiming $2,500 Group 1
1 - Bit O Lavec (9-5) - Coming of two wins and draws the rail.  How do you go by?

Race 5 - $3,200 Pace - FM Claiming Handicap $6,000-$8,000
5 - Count the Giggles (5-2)  - Should get to the front in a field devoid of early pace.
7 - Sweet Treats (7-2) - May try to follow top pick and try to get by top choice at end.

Selection: 1,2,6/2,5/1/ 5,7 - $12 tickets

Cal Expo Late Pick 4 -(Races 6-9); $10,000 Gtd Pool - 15% takeout

Race 6 - $2,400 Pace - Conditioned Claiming
2 - Code Blue (9-2) - Has been quitting at end; maybe not this week.
1 - Fairway Gypsy (12-1) - Recent has been horrible, but with rail may be worth shot to bulk up price.

Race 7 - $3,400 Pace - Claiming Handicap - $6,000-10,000
6 - Doit By The Clock (8-1) - Needs trip for closing kick.
5 - Hi Ho Steverino (6-1) -   Expects to gun for the lead and try to hold on.

Race 8 - $1,600 Trot - Claiming $2,500 - Group 3
8 - Seneca Falls (6-1) - Drops down and improves on driver.  Possibility.
3 - Letter of Intenet (2-1) - Raced well off cover, will need to hold on.
6 - Graland Bot Joefee (10-1) -  Last in this group was decent.  Can look for price.

Race 9 - $2,400 Pace - Maidens
4 - Ally Chandon (2-1) - Can win with a well rated trip.
5 - Lust  (5-1) - Qualified and shipped west.  May be this good,  Hard to gauge.

Selections: 1,2/5,6/ 3,6,8/4,5 - $24 tickets
