Harnessracing.com reports that starting this week, the Meadowlands will simulcast their Thursday and Saturday night racing cards to Australia and New Zealand through the balance of the winter meet. This means punters Down Under will be able to wager on the Meadowlands card locally on Friday and Sunday mornings. Separate pools will be offered.
As we have been saying for a while, the future of standardbred racing includes global simulcasting. While I suspect the Aussies and Kiwis will be better able to adjust to the North American racing, there will be no way simulcasting will be able to occur successfully until a standardized method of transmitting past performance information is developed.
What are we waiting for?
