Simpson Memorial Debuts at Meadowlands

After being raced at Tioga Downs in the past, the John Simpson Memorial for 3yos makes its Meadowlands debut with two divisions for 3yo pacing fillies on Friday evening.  One division for 3yo pacing colts is set to go Saturday night.

These are interesting races.  Certainly there are some not ready for prime time horses racing in these tilts and there are some horses class-wise who lay clearly over the majority of the field but are primarily using this race as a stepping stone to bigger races later this yeasr.  Not that they will not be trying to win, but it is more important for them to give solid performances; meaning if they can win great, but they are not about to gut their horse with much bigger fish to fry down the road.  As a result, it may be worth looking for a horse just below the top level for which this race means a lot more than a stepping stone.

Here is a look at the fields for Friday night's divisions.

6th Meadowlands - Pace - $30,135; John Simpson Memorial; 3yo Fillies
1 - Arodasi (Sears, 15-1) - Shows some closing ability; will she be close enough?  Doubt it.
2 - Park Lane Paige (A Miller, 5-1) - NYSS winner last year makes seasonal debut here.  Not my choice.
3 - Pirouette Hanover (Pierce, 2-1) - Lays over field in class.  Makes seasonal debut; worth the odds?
4 - Day Blue Chip (Tetrick, 9-2) - Has the speed; has the class?
5 - Perfect Pose (D Miller, 15-1) - Will need to step up game significantly to compete.
6 - Ideal In Vegas (Campbell, 6-1) - Don't ignore in your exotics.  The upset choice.
7 - Wing And A Share (Gingras, 12-1) - Lightly raced filly likely needs more seasoning.
8 - Jamie Sue (Dube, 7-2) - Another contender.  Will she overcome the post?  That is the question.
9 - Hearts N Flowers (Lachance, 15-1) - Makes seasonal debut.  Likely not ready.
Selections: 6-8-3

8th Meadowlands - Pace - $30,135; John Simpson Memorial; 3yo Fillies
1 - Kiss Dont Bite (Rattray, 10-1) - Horse has potential.  Worth following down the road.
2 - Air Guitar Hanover (Gingras, 5-1) - Toss the last.  Filly has a good chance; consider.
  3 - Up Front Sharon (A Miller, 15-1) - Solid performances for mid-level horse.
4 - Sha Delight (Dube, 6-1) - Seasonal debut.  May find this field to her liking.
5 - Double Major (Tetrick, 9-2) - Takes on open company in seasonal debut.
6 - Bohemian Spell (Lachance, 12-1) - Tested for class here.  Must see more.
7 - Gottaseeaboutagirl (D Miller, 3-1) - Returns to M1 where had earlier success.  Possibility.
8 - Blackjack Princess (Sears, 4-1) - My pick here.
9 - Brownsville Bomber (Pierce, 15-1) - Not from here; pass.
10 - Clear View Hanover (Campbell, 20-1) - Qualifiers do not install confidence.
Selections: 8-2-4

Dear PacingGuy : Proud of you for the tip of the hat to the ACRC meeting which came to a close today. Wish that the weather was just five to ten degrees milder this week. None the less, great action at ACRC again this year.

Sincerely, Scott
