Last, but not least, is the Confederation Cup occuring at Flamboro Downs. There will be two eliminations (8th and 8th race) where the top four finishers and one fifth place finisher will return for the 12th race where they will compete for a purse of $547,000.
8th Pace - $50,000; Confederation Cup XXXIV - 3yo Open - 1st Elimination
2 - Stonebridge Tonic (10-1)
4 - Foreign Officer (3-1)
3 - BGs Folly (5-2)
5 - Malicious (15-1)
On paper, BGs Folly is the horse to beat. However, being he will likely go off odds on, I will take my chances on a horse that shows a win over the half mile track. Nothing shows BGs Folly being able to handle the half mile oval. Back on May 14, Stonebridge Tonic shows a win over the Flamboro oval in winning tte Bud Light. It does need to be noted that the connections of BGs Folly bought their way into this race by paying the $25,000 supplementary fee.
9th Pace - $50,000; Confeeration Cup XXXIV - 3yo Open - 2nd Elimination
7 - Tobago Cays (4-1)
9 - Aracache Hanover (5-2)
4 -BP Chimo (3-1)
6 - Keystone Raptor (8-1)
Of course it is hard to say who will advance to the final, but I would be looking at BGs Folly, Tobago Cays, and Stonebridge Tonic in the final. Of course, how they race in the elimination and post draw will come into play when looking at the race winner.
