NJ Residents Pay Heed

I may be preaching to the choir here but if you are considering voting for Governor Christie for a second term (though it seems like a forgone conclusion), just consider what the Governor has said about the inevitability of a Meadowlands casino.  If the Governor is re-elected, don't assume a casino is coming to the Meadowlands eventually, at least not while he is the Chief Executive.

I would love to say his opponent Barbara Buono is more sympathetic to a casino in the Meadowlands but unfortunately, when she has been asked about her thoughts about expanded gambling, she was pretty evasive.  Perhaps it was not wanting to upset anyone in South Jersey, but there certainly was no endorsement of the concept.

While I know how I will be voting, there will be no endorsement from me for either candidate based on their racing/gaming strategy.  For all we know, we may be talking peas in a pod.

Also, remember last election the SBOANJ was under the impression the Governor was going to be a friend of racing, raising funds for his campaign and the such.  Talk about being hoodwinked.  Hopefully, this time the racing industry has learned its lesson.

Christie is in bed with the AC financiers. It's an abomination that no racino exists at the Meadowlands. It's a win-win-win scenario for the state and the slots operator and the horsemen and most of all New Jersey.

Believe me, I wish I could endorse Buono with respect to a Meadowlands casino, but her silence leaves us with no position to judge her.

As we learned in the last Governor's election, sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don't.

Mind you when I talk about endorsement, I am talking only on the racing question. If I was including other issues, my endorsement would be clear.

I've never seen anything like this. Everybody around you is making money because of a policy and you're losing money because you haven't adopted said policy. Yet you still wanna be wrong and strong. Poor New Jersey.

Anybody in NJ voting on the basis of whether or not a casino will come to the Meadowlands shouldn't be voting. There are a ton of issues that effect the entire state, and it's pretty selfish to vote for any candidate based on a single, small-in-the-big-picture issue. That being said, the resistance to a casino up north has ALWAYS come from the powerful Democrats in the southern part of the state -- if somebody DOES want to vote on the singular issue of "horse racing", at least use some common sense in determining who would be more likely to eventually stand up to the Democratic AC lobby....Chris Christie, or ANY Democrat? For those familiar with "odds" and "value", the answer is pretty obvious.

I concur, no one should vote for governor based on one issue. That being said, some people will and that is their right.

I was merely pointing out that neither candidate can be counted on to represent racing's benefit.
