Horsemen and Fair World, has opened up voting for the 2009 Race of the Year to non-subscribers by allowing individuals to
vote via the Internet. The choices (and remember this is an American publication) are:
- Breeders Crown 2yo Colt Pace
- Hambletonian Oaks
- Kentucky Futurity
- William Haughton Memorial
- Little Brown Jug Elimination (Well Said elimination)
- Meadowlands Pace

If you got this far, you probably have voted so I can tell you my pick.
I picked the Little Brown Jug Elimination. Clearly Muscle Hill is the best horse of the year, but in this race, Well Said was brilliant. The way he was able to come from the eight hole and win convincingly, even racing three and four wide in the last quarter was very impressive. Remember, his trainer even said on Jug day that Well Said was not 100% sound.
This race shows you how exciting small track racing can be.
