By the time you get to race, you know where you stand and a $20,000 starting fee may keep you from entering if you don't think you can win. In the thoroughbred industry the 2...Hey Pacingguy,<br /><br />In the thoroughbred industry the 2 & 3 yr-olds rely heavily on graded stakes so they can try and qualify for the Kentucky Derby. However, they do have more G1, 2, and 3 races for the older thoroughbreds too. I believe that the harness racing industry needs more "money races" for the older horses.
