2014 Breeders Crown Returns to the Meadowlands

The Hambletonian Society has awarded all twelve Breeders Crown races to the Meadowlands for the 2014 edition.  This is somewhat surprising in that Jeff Gural had expressed an interest in holding some, but not all of the races.

You may be wondering where the money is coming from to hold the Crown?  Remember how this year the Meadowlands was doing well but purses really didn't go up much?  Some people suspected business wasn't as good as people were saying.  The fact is there was an underpayment of purses and with permission of the SBOANJ, this underpayment of purses, or at least a portion of it, will be used to fund the Breeders Crown purses thus allowing the Meadowlands to host all twelve events.

It will be interesting to see how the Meadowlands and the Hambletonian Society handle the Crown in 2014 with the races being contested just over the river from the major media outlets.  This will be a great opportunity to showcase Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment as well as the Breeders Crown events.  Pocono Downs has done a great job in the past and are sure to do a great job Saturday evening, but the fact is the races are contested outside of the limelight, except for harness racing aficionados.  It promises to be an interesting year in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Where are the Picks?  Some of you may be wondering where are my selections for the Breeders Crown?  Based on the way my selections have been working this year, I am doing you a favor by not posting them.  I hope to turn things around soon so I may provide my selections with a reasonable chance of coming out ahead.

Very disappointed in your decision to not post picks for harness racing's championship night. So what if your having an off year. This is the nature of the game and why we always look for vindication. I'm demanding you. Post Your Breeders Crown Picks NOW!!!!!!

I would never demand that you post picks. My attorney is currently looking for a judge who will order you to reveal them!

Seriously, I enjoy reading your selections.

F.Y.I....Two shoes dropped in the PA drug investigation that triggered so much discussion earlier in the year. 5-year suspensions. Info on today's USTA penalty list.

3YO Filly Pace- Somewhereoverainbow
2YO Colt Pace- Luck Be With You
Older Mare Trot- D'Orsay
Older Mare Pace- Monkey On My Wheel
3YO Filly Trot- Bee A Magician
3YO Colt Pace- Lucan Hanover
3YO Colt Trot- Spider Blue Chip
Older Male Pace- Clear Vision

2 M/L Favorites Y'all. I'm a 'look for value' type. I think that the trotters Father Patrick(class), Cooler Schooner(speed/horse for the course) and Bee A Magician(perfection) truly stand out. I'll be playing longshots underneath and hope they don't break. As for no Tetrick horses in the win spot, that's not because they can't win, but that they tend to be over bet.

Good Luck To All......
