Cal-Expo Thursday Pick 4 Preview

A slow day today so we will expand our coverage of the Pick 4s at Cal-Expo this Thursday evening.  Now Cal-Expo has a brief eight race card so every race is part of a Pick 4.  Let's take a l ook at each race:

Early Pick 4 - 15% Take Out (Races 1-4)
1st Race - #4 Sun On the Rocks is my first choice.  Since shipping in from  Pennsylvania, this four year old mare has had a 2nd place and a iwin in the maiden class.  There may be more speed in this race, but based on class, I assume she will be able to handle the hike in class.  If looking for other horses, I would look at #2 Spoons  and #6 Whipped Dreams.

2nd Race -  In the third race, I am looking at two hores; #2 Red Star Tweedy faded in a 9,000 claimer; moivng bavk to 4$,000-$5000 level should wake her.  #6 Sleigh Bell finished thsecond last week in a tougher triol ha been in the money of late.

3rd Race -  #5 Myra's HiHo just missed lst week andfigures to improve off that start.  #3 Yiannoulas Boy raced well after big class hike and may be at big odds here.  #2 Got The Giggles is takine a big hike but has been racing much better since Luke Plano got the drive should get support as he moves in from post eight.

4th Race - #2 Might Fine Hi Ho drops down after racing well in tight quarters in last start.  Figures to be the favorite.  #7 Lucky Peterson got trounced in last start but returns bacvk to conditioned claiming; figures to improve.

Early Pick 4 Selections: -  4/2,6/2,3,5/2,7 - $12

Late Pick 4 - $10,000 guarnateed pool - 15% take out (Races 5-8)
5th Race - A wide open affair.  I  like the #6 Hannah Hannah as this filly is making her first start on the West Coast coming from Saratoga.  However,  you can't ignore #5 A Little Looney, #7 A Girl Named Fred, and #8 Poor House, the only horse that raced in this class.

6th Race - Another race with multiple choices.  #2 Bobby Baccala won this class last week and #5 Hope Tu Place steps up one class after a victory.  While you could limit the race to these two, I am going to add #9 Bit O Lavec.  While Bit O Lavec draws the worst of it, she has not thrown a bad race in for a while and was flying late 3 wide in last start.  If there is any racing luck, she may find her way into the winner's circle.

7th Race - A race I am going to take a chance with a single.  #6 Cat Call finished second in his last race in this class after making two moves.  While on paper there are other contenders, I have to give respect to a horse that made two moves in his last race, possibly signaling he is ready to score at an attractive price.

8th Race - My choice for this race is #6 Letter of Intent.  She's dropping down a class where she has had some success.  #8 Pussycat finally stayed flat in a race.  If she stays flat this week, she should be tighter and may give a good account of herself.  Lastly, #1 Garland Bot Joefee is a logical choice, moving up one class off a victory.

Late Pick 4 Selections: 5,6,7,8/2,5,9/6/1,6,8 - $36
